I am ridiculously excited over the mid-term elections today. I am following along here at work and I wanted a graphic that could do minute-by-minute updates. I did a search, and found this (click on the "latest election results" box). I love the internet.
The zoo trip got canceled at the last minute, so we didn't get to experience public transportation today. However, I must tell you about the last time we went to the zoo on DART. The Moosh was 2 years old, and I was a little overly excited about taking him on the light rail train for the very first time. It was about mid-day on a Thursday. It was very educational. The Moosh got to learn about drunks, and what a 40 oz beer bottle looks like. He also got schooled in the art of not engaging the mentally ill person in the seat behind us. On the way home, the inner city junior high school students introduced him to doobies! I was more than a little freaked out by our fellow public transportees, but I remained lighthearted and the Moosh just loved it, so no harm done.
We were supposed to go to a birthday party in lieu of the zoo, but to be honest, going to the zoo today was a huge time stretch for me. I was willing to do it because it had been planned in advance, but still, I was feeling pressured about managing it all. We ended up skipping the birthday party. We stayed home and showered instead. What a fabulous life we lead.
I must say I hate, hate, hate not having Thursdays off any more. We used to do fun adventures to parks, malls, museums, zoos, and other activities on Thursdays from 10 AM - 3 PM. It got us out of the house, it was relaxing, and we both enjoyed it. As an added bonus, attendance was light at most of the places we went because it was a weekday. Now that day has switched to Saturday, and, blech! We can't do any of those things. Maybe I can get my sister to let me switch back in January. I kind of hate this.
